The Board of the Central Scotland Green Network Trust are pleased to announce the recent appointment of Derek Robertson as the charity’s new Chief Executive.

Prior to joining CSGNT, Derek was Chief Executive of environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful, a position he held for nearly nine years. Derek led KSB’s work on climate change, sustainable development, local environmental quality, behaviour change and environmental education.

Speaking in relation to Derek’s appointment CSGNT’s Chair, Keith Geddes said: "Derek’s considerable experience as leader within the charity sector, and his background in the environment, meant he was the unanimous choice of the appointments panel. He brings with him a track record of successfully developing organisations, raising their profile and increasing their impact. I am pleased that Derek has joined us at an important time for our charity.”

Derek said: “I am delighted to be given the opportunity to lead this important environmental charity which is charged with delivering the largest greenspace project in Europe. With environmental issues being so topical, this is great time to be promoting the benefits of working with CSGNT to all sectors across central Scotland. I am very much looking forward to working with the Board and the staff team to lead the organisation through its next stage of development.”

Derek has had an extensive career in the UK charity sector having led a number of charities as CEO over the last 30 years, which includes the Groundwork Federation, an environmental regeneration charity that operates across England.

From 2014-19 Derek was President of the European Litter Prevention Association/Clean Europe Network, a Brussels based NGO, and was responsible for leading the organisation’s work in partnership with the European Commission.

Derek is a Chartered Fellow of the CMI, a Chartered Waste Manager, a Fellow of the RSA, and a Member of the IoD.
