Forty-eight community projects in Scotland have been awarded £40,000 funding in total from the Central Scotland Green Network (CSGN) Community Project Fund to improve their local greenspace.

The £40,000 Community Project Fund – supported by £30,000 funding from the Greggs Foundation and £10,000 from Central Scotland Green Network Trust (CSGNT) – is providing one-off grants of up to £1,000 to support small-scale greenspace initiatives and to foster community engagement in maintaining and enhancing the local environment.

The latest CSGNT annual report is now available to download. It accounts for the work we have carried out in partnership with the Scottish Government and our stakeholders to drive forward the delivery of the CSGN, improving the vitality, health and well-being of Central Scotland.

In 2016, an initial community consultation was carried out to find out how local people thought Balbardie Park could be improved. Following this, an assessment was carried out to determine the condition of the paths, existing woodland and trees, site furniture and signage, to further inform possible improvements. A master plan has been produced identifying a number of potential improvements including path upgrades and drainage, woodland management and tree planting, a re-profiled bike track, new seating, signage and interpretation. It is proposed that these improvements will be developed in phases as funding is secured.
