Shotts community is being encouraged to get involved with their local nature park.
We are calling on the support of the local community to help us protect the teaching circle in the woodlands at Hillhouseridge in Shotts Nature Park. The popular community resource, which is regularly used by local groups including schools and nurseries, has been repeatedly targeted by vandals in recent months who are now putting its future under threat.
Central Scotland Green Network Trust (CSGNT) is working with West Lothian Council to prepare a Management Plan to be submitted to Forestry Commission Scotland under the Woodlands In and Around Towns initiative.
The Management Plan will detail how the woodland areas will be sustainably managed. It will set out objectives and include work plans.
The closing date for receipt of feedback forms was 5pm on Monday 7 September 2015. Proposal plans & feedback form have now been removed.
Two new paths have been created in Dalkeith to make cycling and walking safer, give better access to Midlothian’s open spaces and promote healthier lifestyles.
The two paths, which create a circular route along both sides of the River Esk, were officially opened by the Transport Minister, Derek Mackay on Tuesday 23 June.
