It is Cycle to Work Day today, a nationwide campaign that encourages everyone to pledge to hop on their bike for just one day. The campaign compliments the CSGN’s active travel theme in which we want to improve the provision of cycling and walking routes, allowing people more opportunity to use these methods of transport. This led our development officer Mike Batley to count up the miles he has clocked on his bike over the past 16 years commuting to work.
A group of trainees from North Lanarkshire have taken part in a project which aims to improve their employment prospects through training and working outdoors. Two squads of six were involved with thinning and conservation work in Orchardton Woodland next to Broadwood Loch and Palacerigg Country Park.
